Post Roland JX-8P presets not working
hey, if anyone here has used the 3x to program their JX-8P, could you tell me what the trick was to getting it to work?

i have tried using the JX-8P presets which came with the software for the bitstream, and all it seems to do is mangle whatever patch is currently loaded. i've tested the sysex data going out to the JX8P, [url="file:///C:/Users/dcknuthx/Downloads/JX-8P_OM.pdf"]and it is exactly as the manual says it should be.[/url] (page 28, section 3.2)

for instance, the following bytes should change `DCO 1 range`:

Code:
byte# : data
1     : F0 <-- sysex start
2     : 41 <-- roland's vendor id
3     : 36 <-- opcode for `individual tone parameter`
4     : 00 <-- channel number (?)
5     : 21 <-- format type, whatever the **** that means
6     : 20 <-- level #, whatever the **** that means
7     : 01 <-- group #, whatever the **** that means
8     : 0B <-- this is the parameter number for `dco range`
9     : 00 <-- this is where a value between 0 and 127 should go
10    : F7 <-- end sysex

I've read things here and there about roland doing checksums in their sysex, so i tried every way with the config software but none of it is working...

FIGURED IT OUT

the fucking presets that come with the BS3X software are wrong!

probably because a programmer came up with them, haha. no offense, jerome. I understand, 0-index becomes second nature

the presets should set the `control value position` to 9 instead of 8, as they are when you load the presets!!!
